SUITE 34 WEEK 4 PROJECT RUNWAY WINNER- ANGELINA CLEARY
Sunday, December 7, 2008, 11:09 PM
Posted by Administrator

Suite 34 Project Runway Week 4 Winner Angelina Cleary had gotten into fashion by the helping inspirational hand of Suite 34's 1st year Winner Kayla Irwin. Somewhere along the line of learning to sew pants and being friends with 2nd week winner Natasha Truscott, Miss Cleary captured the winning bug. Angie as friends call her, has the charm and charisma of your everyday girl who likes to hang with friends and enjoy a good time, but in her sewing she demonstrates true talent and a focus many can doubt at first glance. Do not judge a book by its cover. Angie brought to the show a collection full of impressive blends of organic wools and cottons. From the comfy hooded sweat with matching shorts to the glamorous satin blend draped bell sleeve flared blouse. A blouse so original it creates a staple in fashion as of now, it was the eye catcher of the night and its finishing where that of couture envy.

"I didn't even realize I won when i was up there," she says seconds after winning and riveting in joy with enthusiastic friends and family around the stage. She thanks me with a big hug and blows a kiss at judges. This excitement is the drive that waked her up every morning to finish her 3rd year of Couture and what shows in every single stitch and detail she adds with her needle and thread.

Angelina picked up from a winner a few sewing details and tricks of trade but is the torch she is carrying so well what makes her a disguised threat.

SUITE 34 PROJECT RUNWAY WEEK 3 WINNER- ALISON VERCH
Sunday, November 30, 2008, 04:00 PM
Posted by Administrator

For the 3rd week in a row Suite 34 has done nothing but upscale their event anticipation for Project Runway.
this weeks lucky winner was Alison Verch. A recent Richard Robinson Couture graduate whos recycled form of use of Dupioni silk coincided with this weeks theme and captured the eyes of the panel of judges.
"Ive never won anything before, this is soo exciting!", she states with proud joy as her win starts to sink into her mind. Alison knows and understands the capability of long hours and sleepless nights designers endure while creating master pieces for the world to love. " Ive never made anything for myself, everything I make is for someone else." This is one of the perks many designers understand and sacrifice for their craft.

The color magnetism her fabrics capture were a sure example of design. From the brown and the royal blue, to the pastel pink to the aquatic turquoise use not many can invision such combination but the runway shinned from each of their radiation.
She has had much success in the bridal area, where she has repeatedly created bridesmaids dresses and flower girl dresses for the past few years. But a passion close to her heart is that of lingerie design. She has created delicate and exquisite pieces over the last year and is in the process of showcasing and exposing them to the world in the near future.

Alison Verch not winning anything else in her life might not have been such a bad thing, because maybe in all, she won at the right moment the right prize!

Suite 34 Project Runway 08 ....Week 2 Winner....Natasha Truscott

She's a tender 21 year old, who's doodling in class has come a long way. Natasha Truscott is in her 3rd year in fashion design school and is ready to enter the ever demanding world of fashion. With her head on her shoulders and a realistic view of life she has some of the most important tools she needs to face the twilight world.

"My dream is to have my own line of course, but I know that won't happen as soon as I get out of school." She explains to me as she begins to describe the feeling of winning. She has entered many shows but won none, this has been her first and she loves every minute of it. Still high with the jitters from Friday nights sold out runway competition, Natasha still dreads going up on stage to face a audience. "Going up on stage is the hardest for me, to have all those people looking at you makes me nervous," with that said, maybe this is why she prefers the comfortable behind the scenes backstage area.

Her picture ready smile and charming charisma is the best memory she implements on us all. Her grace as she sashays herself up and down the stairs in matching aqua wool shrug and matching lycra top, she stays informed and positive as show details are delegated, is that kind of personality and drive which will take her to that spot where she wants to be.

The shimmering sequence of purple from her straight cut hooded dress, had the lights in awe. Her reuse of the fabric and that of one in simple but cleverly sewn dress pants showed her detailed craftsmanship.

Her doodling may have gotten her in trouble back in her high school days, but in the artistic world of fashion that is exactly what we need. Designers who's doodles of today are the fashion trends of tomorrow!

SUITE 34'S PROJECT RUNWAY 08 ....WEEK ONE WINNER: TANYTA BOLDON!!!!

For the 3rd year in a row Suite 34 has continued their success with Project Runway a showcasing event where designers from the city of Ottawa compete their collections for a chance to win a trip for 2 to New York City.

This year we have 14 designers competing every Friday for 4 weeks. The winners of each week move on to the final round where the week winners will win a trip to New York City. HOT 89.9 hosts the event and many industry elites are on board as judges.

This week Tanyta Boldon a recent Richard Robinson graduate won the first round.
"Since I can remember I always would sew my Barbies clothes," she proudly states. Her innovative style has her creating garments from already built garments. She takes a pair of pants and make them into a one sleeve jersey grey fitted dress. "This was a dress", she points to a encrusted lace corset with matching hoodie. All her pieces conjunct in the most glamorous and visionary way, she has a gleaming corset which model Naomi Asha wears with pride and grace. The gold glistening dress with matching black sating shrug top piece, makes model Aysha feel like the sexxi diva she is.

It was no surprise Miss Tanyta captured the night and had the banging aspect to back it up. She is excited for the finales, revamped and ready for what the world has to bring. "I want an empire, a fashion house, I wanna be a mogul," she tells me while glisping at the sky for a unnoticeable second where she invisions her dream unravel.
With all this down her belt at the tender age of 20, I believe Tanyta's fashion house just opened up for business!

Check out Suite 34 Project Runway every Friday at Suite 34, 34 Clarence st.
